How to Brew Cauxffee

While “there’s no wrong way to pronounce ‘Cauxffee’” - that’s certainly not the case for brewing it!

Hot Tips for Perfect Cauxffee

  • Mix jar well, especially after first opening, as contents tend to separate.
  • Make sure to use boiling water (212*F) - coffee maker water isn't hot enough!
  • Give it enough room to bloom - the dry Cauxffee will expand when water is added, so something like a tea ball just won’t give it enough room to extract.
  • Use a lid to retain temperature during brewing.

What to Brew Cauxffee In

  • We love the French Press because it fully simulates that coffee ritual - perfect for brewing a large batch.
  • We love the tea infuser because you can brew it right in your mug, and it’s very easy to clean - perfect for travel or brewing one cup at a time.
  • Any other teapot with an insert or straining method is also great!
  • In a pinch, you can always brew your Cauxffee in a jar, and use a coffee filter to strain it once the brewing time is up.

What NOT to Brew Cauxffee In

I don’t recommend coffee makers, percolators, pour-overs, Keurigs, mocha pots, or any other method that was designed specifically for brewing coffee for one simple reason:

Coffee beans are extremely sensitive -

It doesn’t take much to extract the caffeine you want from coffee, and any extra heat or time ends up extracting stuff you don't want (acidity and bitterness - this is why coffee often tastes like crap and makes you feel like garbage!).

In contrast, Cauxffee is an herbal tea which requires hotter and longer brewing times in order to extract all of the beneficial properties it contains.

Coffee-brewing equipment is not designed for enough heat or time to infuse Cauxffee's herbs correctly - and I don’t want you to miss out on any of the good stuff!

Besides not using coffee makers, I don't recommend small tea balls - they typically don't offer enough room for your Cauxffee to bloom and extract properly.

As for cold brewing... I'm just not 100% confident regarding cold infusing all of the specific roots and herbs in Cauxffee - so I can't recommend it until we #science this out more thoroughly.

If you want iced Cauxffee (trust me, you do), I'd recommend brewing hot and chilling it overnight to ensure you're getting the desired effects and benefits!
